Grad School Limbo

I have been a very negligent blogger this semester. It's hard to find anything new to write about at this point. Research is progressing, though slower than I might hope. My advisor hasn't changed, but I'm trying to avoid whinging about it on the internet. Days sort of run together without any regularly scheduled breaks or meetings.

I made a wiki for my research group, plus a personal webpage. After a week of playing with CSS templates, I'm now even more appalled at my department's webpage. I'm pretty sure students apply in spite of our web presence.

Maybe Christmas will give me a chance to reboot and come back at least a little motivated. Right now, motivation is hard to find...

  1. For some reason a lot department websites are neither pretty nor informative. I'm sure we'd have a huge increase in student application if we'd just pimp our departments website a tiny bit.

Hope you find the secret hiding place of your motivation soon!

    LOL!
I just redid my group's website (we had an outdated frames page), so I played with CSS and XHTML a bit. I also discovered that university templates sucked ass. Very poorly written code.
I ended up finding a free template online that's not too plain or too gimmicky, and the guy writes beautiful, clean HTML. Editing that template was a breeze and very enjoyable. Clean code FTW!

  3. I refuse to call you a limbo in a grad school. That's just not fitting for a person with an upcoming graduate degree. :)
